Course Overview Hello, my name is Corey Bower. Welcome to my course, SOLIDWORKS -- Working with Loft and Boundary Features. I am an Elite application engineer at GoEngineer who has a SOLIDWORKS reseller that sells to and supports customers on the West Coast, South Central United States, and the Rocky Mountain area. The major topics we will learn are loft features, which create geometry from one profile to another, boundary features, which create geometry in direction 1 and direction 2, and then put it all together to create a detailed design project. Loft Feature and It's Options Hello, this is Corey Bower. Welcome to the SOLIDWORKS course on Working with Loft and Boundary Features. In this course, we will learn how to create complex parts with loft and boundary features. Let's take a look at some of the topics we will cover. Loft features, creates complex geometry between two or more profiles with optional additional curves to shape the geometry. Boundary features, creates geometry with profiles and curves in direction 1 and direction 2. A detailed design project, we will create a knife with multiple lofts and curves. When we are done with this course, you will have tools to create complex geometry.
Boundary Features In this module, we're going to look at Boundary Features, which include Boundary surfaces and Boundary Bosses, and their options. We will start with a simple Boundary Surface to understand the interface. Then we will look at a Boundary Surface using Dir1 and Dir2 for a more complex shape. Then we'll look at a Boundary Boss, using the option of Normal to Profile to create the flower vase. Then we'll look at a Boundary Boss with Dir1 and Dir2 to recreate the cabinet handle that we used the loft for, Boundary Boss with composite curves and selection manager to create this luggage lock.
Detailed Design Example - Knife In this module, we are going to look at a detailed design example, creating a knife. For this project we could use all lofts, all boundaries, or a combination of both. We are using all lofts. We are going to use a sketch picture as a reference to create our guide curves. We're going to create the lower blade with profiles and guide curves. We're going to create the upper blade portion with profiles and guide curves. We're going to create the handle with guide curves for the finger grips, and we're going to create the transition between the blade and the handle.
