Hi everyone. My name is Max de Arriz, and welcome to my course, SOLIDWORKS - Preparing Designs for Sand Casting. I'm a manufacturing engineer at Dixon Valve. Throughout my time engineering I have needed to figure out new ways to make things, sometimes in quantities which aren't conducive for fully machine designs. Enter in sand casting. In this course we're going to unlock the preparatory skills required to turn your ideal design into a model brimming with casting tooling potential. Some of the major topics that we will cover include figuring out parting orientation, understanding tolerance calculations, the mysteries behind draft angles, and applying shrink rates.
