Description

PowerShell DSC uses a declarative syntax for easy server configuration, but requires a local infrastructure and doesn't scale well. Azure Automation DSC delivers PowerShell DSC as a cloud service, making it more accessible and manageable. This course, Managing Configurations with Azure Automation DSC, starts off by teaching you how to set up your servers to work with Azure Automation DSC. After that, you'll learn how to upload and compile DSC configurations. Finally, the course will wrap up teaching you how to manage the solution using role-based access control (RBAC) and reporting features. By the end of this course, you'll be able to use simple DSC configurations to configure your cloud and on-premises Windows Servers.

Course Overview
Hello, my name is Russell Smith, and welcome to this course on Managing Configurations with Azure Automation DSC. I'm an IT consultant, trainer, and writer specializing in Windows Server security and management. Azure Automation DSC aims to democratize PowerShell DSC, and make it easier to set up and manage without a large upfront investment in infrastructure. In this course, some of the major topics will include uploading and compiling simple DSC configurations to Azure Automation, onboarding servers, and assigning configurations to nodes, working with Azure Automation assets, plus how to import your own DSC modules, configuring role-based access control to manage who can use Azure Automation features in your organization, and how to access reports. By the end of the course, you'll be able to use DSC to manage your Windows servers, wherever they're located, without setting up any infrastructure. Before starting the course, you should be familiar with deploying virtual machines in the Azure cloud and basic Windows Server management. I hope you'll join me on this journey to Azure Automation DSC with the Managing Configurations with Azure Automation DSC course at Pluralsight.
